En helljusadapter gör det möjligt att hämta styrsignalen till extraljusen utan att behöva göra onödiga ingrepp i bilens originalkablage. För många bilmodeller finns modellanpassade Plug & Play-adaptrar som ansluts direkt till bilens befintliga kontakter. Det ger en renare installation och gör det enklare att låta extraljus eller LED-ramp tändas tillsammans med bilens ordinarie helljus.

CAN-bus och XBB för moderna bilar

På många nyare bilar styrs strålkastare och helljus via bilens elektroniska system, vilket innebär att det inte alltid finns en traditionell 12-volts helljussignal att ansluta en vanlig reläsats till.
